WCGA periodically spotlights our members. Our most improved golfer for the 2016 season has to be Michelle King, President & CEO, King Consults. We asked her to share a few of her experiences from the season.
How did you hear about WCGA?
My good friend, LeeAnn Petersen Strother has been telling me about WCGA for a long time! She’s been encouraging me to join WCGA! I met Sally, WCGA’s amazing President at the kickoff WCGA lunch on the Hill! I finally joined WCGA and it was one of the happiest decisions I made! It’s a wonderful community filled with amazing, fun, smart people who play golf and are in the government relations field!
Do you think WCGA has helped you with your golf game? If so, how?
YES! I would still be limited to miniature golf if it was not for WCGA! WCGA helped all aspects of my golf game! I am still a beginner golfer, but I love the game and playing golf with my friends and colleagues. WCGA helped me enormously with golf technique and strategy in addition to insight about golf etiquette and the rules of the game! Plus, WCGA provided me with an awesome weekly golf league and lessons!
How do you see golf as being helpful to your professional network and business?
Golf provides cool opportunities to meet new people and spend time outside engaging in a sport while also being social. I really have enjoyed playing in the WCGA golf league and having fun on and off the golf course with my WCGA friends! Looking forward to the 2017 season!
What was your favorite memory from the season?
I have several favorite memories from the season….the weekly WCGA league nights, our amazing fall golf weekend at the Bryce Resort and playing golf on a sunny summer day at the Naval Academy followed by crabs at Cantler’s! Hope you will consider joining as a WCGA member. I look forward to playing golf with you!
What’s your daytime gig?
I am the President & CEO of King Consults, a global government relations, external relations and advocacy firm working with the association and corporate community based in Washington, DC focused on intellectual property policy, technology policy, cybersecurity/data policy, health policy and trade. I’m a volunteer too….I serve as the co-chair of the Women in Government Relations (WGR) Telecommunications, Technology and Intellectual Property task force and I serve on the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) International Section Council and PAC Board. Further, I am a member of the American Jewish Committee ACCESS Board and the Bryn Mawr College Alum Committee on Leadership Development.
